The Genesee County Sheriff’s
Office manages a non-transporting advanced life support service. Police
Deputies, who are also licensed paramedics, respond to medical emergencies.
They are able to do advanced emergency medical care, starting intravenous
lines, and giving emergency medications, following protocols that are
authorized by a physician. Sheriff’s Paramedics can send a 12 lead ECG to
the hospital emergency room using a cell phone. Patients are transported to
the hospital by a transporting ambulance.
